Hello, My name is Scott and I play drums for the Whores. I was hoping that I'd get away with that but I won't so I guess I'll have to fill in some more of the blank spaces.
For the last 5 or 6 years I've been rambling round Wellington making some semblance of noise at the local venues, in a spate of different bands and with a selection of different people. This is (officially) the first band I've played drums in, before this I played guitar (yes so I get the guitarist jokes and the drummer jokes).
The Whores is a strange combination of people I've known for years. Adrian was the man behind my first ever gig, my band at the time (Skwish) opened for Burning Roses at Vic Uni and we spent a lot of time looking back after that. I met Helen through Em's (my sister who plays bass) years ago so it's a nice mix of people I've known for years
Skwish continued on for a good 2 years before finally disolving. Ben Cauchi (our original bassist in Skwish) had moved onto the then Hamilton based goth band Disjecta Membra, Pip (our drummer) moved to Auckland and myself Scott Anderson and Sam Poynter decided to move onto something else.
This something else was called Mineral. This something else didn't last long at all due to inter-member hostilities. So after that I spent a lot of time doing jack shit, working here and there and basically being bored.
Then one fine sunny afternoon I came home and found a Scotsman, an American and a Englishman using all my gear in my living room. So of course I stepped in and showed them how to use it properly. Soon after that I was innitated into Dog Dyed Black with Monkey (the Scotsman on guitar and vocals), Stephen (the American on bass), and Johnny (the Englishman on drums).
We stomped round town for a while playing a kinda back-dated punk-pop kinda thing and eventually ended up in Inca Studio's with Mike Gibson to record a demo before we broke up (you can probably find MP3's of it on the net somewhere). Monkey went home to Scotland and Stephen went to Korea. Johnny went to the world cup in Paris. We saw him on TV.
The Whores already existed by then, with Monkey in the line up doing extra guitar. He left though as I said and so Adrian filled his shoes.
Not much else I can say about the Whores or myself really (without boring the shit out of people), you have to come see it to be honest.
Anyway life goes on.
